''Fabulous, couldn't be better'' That was his lifelong reply to any inquiry as to how he was doing. Even in the last days as the leukemia sapped his strength and he could barely lift an arm that was still his outlook on life. At the 60th anniversary of Robins AFB tribute to outstanding individuals Major General Haines said, ''I knew we would have to recognize him last because the applause would never stop. He knew everyone on the base and they all loved him.''

Mr. Goodrum was born in Cordele, GA. He retired from Civil Service at Robins Air Force Base in 1969. Afterwards he worked as plant manager for Fairchild Aircraft in Crestview FL, then as regional manager for Emerson Electric and then regional manager for ESCO. Currently he worked for Engineered Support Systems Inc. as their regional manager. He also served in the United States Air Force during World War II. Mr. Goodrum was a member of the Warner Robins Chamber of Commerce and the Warner Robins Church of Christ.
