Patrick Lee Pullen went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 8, 2012.
Mr. Pullen was born at Saint Joseph's Hospital in Parkersburg, West Virginia, on May 31, 1934, to Violet Haines Pullen and Emory Leverett Pullen, both of Parkersburg. He attended local schools, and graduated in 1952 from Parkersburg High School, where he played football for four years, including the 1950 State Championship Team. He continued his education at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida.
Mr. Pullen served in the United States Army in the 3rd Infantry Division, 130th Regiment, Company E, for two years during the Korean Conflict. After serving his country, Mr. Pullen worked for Commercial Credit Corporation for twenty-three years, managing offices in Panama City, Florida, as well as Macon and Warner Robins. During this time, he also built a mobile home park, Valley View, in Houston County, which he operated for thirty-four years. Mr. Pullen was of the Christian faith, teaching the Men's Bible Class at Liberty United Methodist Church for twenty years.
After his retirement, Mr. Pullen busied himself around his farm, as well as becoming the primary groundskeeper and maintenance man at Vinson Valley, and later for Camp Vinson Valley for sixteen years.
Mr. Pullen is survived by his wife of fifty-three years, Catherine "Kitty" Vinson Pullen; son, Eric B. Pullen (Lynn); daughter, Kay Pullen Kelley (Ken, deceased), youngest son, Victor V. Pullen (Bobbie); five grandchildren, Jessica P. Acosta of Valdosta, Stephanie Pullen of Perry, Tom Kelley of Byron, and Amy and Lee Pullen of Perry.
Visitation will be Saturday, March 10, 2012, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the home of Victor and Bobbie Pullen, 187 Giles Road, Warner Robins GA 31093. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 11, 2012, at Liberty United Methodist Church Cemetery, Reverend Sam Lamback officiating. Interment will follow. Memorial contributions may be made to Camp Vinson Valley, c/o Byron United Methodist Church, Byron GA 31008, or Heart of Georgia Hospice, 103 Westridge Drive, Warner Robins GA 31088.
