Paul Virgil Talbot, 71, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, June 7, 2023.
Paul was born on October 4, 1951, in Columbus, Georgia where he spent his childhood. He attended Jordan Vocational High School. Paul proudly joined the Army in 1986 and served as a small arms artillery and tank repairer and instructor until his retirement in 2006. After his retirement, he went on to work for General Dynamics and Apogee Solutions as an instructor in preventative and corrective maintenance of U.S. Army materiel. He loved music, especially bluegrass gospel and attended many concerts. When traveling, he took the scenic routes and enjoyed “traipsing the countryside” to marvel in local history and God’s creations. When he was at home, he could be found “tinkering” on cars, as he was quite a “grease monkey” or enjoying a small wood working project. He was known as a generous, tender-hearted man who saw the good in all God’s people and creatures. Paul will forever be remembered as a selfless man who put others before himself. He was one of a kind with a true servant’s heart.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin Earl Talbot and Lucy Mabel Talbot; wife, Beverly Deeb Talbot; daughter, Mindy Beth Talbot Hubbard; and his brother, Gerald Talbot.
His memory will forever be treasured by his beloved daughter, Neeley Talbot; grandchildren, Alissa Marone (VA.), Allen Marone (GA.), Jessica Hubbard (GA.), Amelia Babb (GA) and Jamie “Possum” Pritt; brothers, Danny Talbot (Carol) and Gralen Talbot (April); sisters, Janice Anderson (LaRue), Jeanette Freeman (Rick), and Jeannine Obie (Marcel); an adoring host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his Loving Companion, Rebecca Sullivan.
Visitation will be Saturday, June 17, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will immediately follow, in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Afterward, Paul will be laid to rest at Magnolia Park Cemetery with Military Honors.
The family will accept flowers or donations may be given in memory of Paul Virgil Talbot to Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675.
