Paula Fleming went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, in Heaven on Tuesday, September 5, 2023. She was 62 years old.
Paula was born on June 16, 1961, in Perry, Georgia, to the late Freeman Colbert Jr. and Pearl Reese Colbert. She grew up in Warner Robins, Georgia, where she graduated with honors from Warner Robins High School in 1979. During her high school years, Paula was actively engaged in the WRHS Follies and DECA, showcasing her passion for both the performing arts and the importance of business infrastructure.
With a thirst for knowledge and a determination to excel, Paula pursued higher education and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology. She also received a Master’s Degree in Logistics Management from Georgia College in Milledgeville. Her pursuit of excellence did not stop there; Paula embarked on a remarkable career path, initially joining Frito Lay Management and later transitioning to Robins Air Force Base in 1985. Throughout her career, Paula consistently exhibited exceptional leadership skills, personal dedication, and unwavering commitment to a diverse range of work assignments, projects, and major programs. Her contributions to civil service were indeed exemplary, earning her numerous prestigious titles, including Management Analyst in the Directorate of Distribution (DS), Logistics Management Specialist, Chief of Aerospace Ground Equipment Flight in the Support Equipment and Vehicles Division, ultimately retiring as a Chief of Logistics/Support Manager in March of 2016. Paula was not just a superior, manager, and leader, but a Mentor, guiding and inspiring countless individuals throughout her distinguished career.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Paula cherished her leisure time. She found joy in activities such as Zumba and working out. Paula had a passion for shopping, was an avid reader, and took pleasure in watching westerns and Hallmark Christmas movies. Additionally, she was a devout member of Beulahland Bible Church of Gunn Road, where her faith was central to her life. Above all else, Paula loved spending time with her family.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her husband, Bobby L. Fleming of Bonaire; siblings, Freeman D. Colbert (Evangeline) of Chandler, Arizona, and Sharon C. Broughton (Tony), Jennifer D. Finch, and Greta G. Graham, all of Warner Robins; stepchildren, Ayisha Brown (Martin), Kizzy Fleming, and Mwandishi A. Fleming; grandchild, Ian Fleming Brown, along with nine other beloved grandchildren; nieces and nephews, Season Dionne (Eddie), Sean-Michael Broughton (Breanna), Christopher Broughton (Krystalyn), Kara Brown, Andrew Graham (Jessie), Keila Graham, Nathan Colbert, Andre’ Colbert, Simone Colbert; great nieces and nephews, Averi Graham, Gabriel Graham, Isabella Broughton, Micah Broughton, Noah Thompson; special friend, Renee’ Primus; as well as several beloved cousins, extended family members, and friends.
A viewing will be held on Friday, September 15, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at McCullough Funeral Home with a funeral service immediately following at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Afterward, Paula Fleming will be laid to rest in Parkway Memorial Gardens.
