Paula Jean Knight, a devoted mother, grandmother, mentor, and friend, passed away on March 21, 2025. Born in Thomasville, Georgia, but raised in Valdosta, she graduated from Valdosta High School before earning a bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Valdosta Technical College.
Paula dedicated her career to helping others, working as a paralegal for attorney Terry Schwock and later in rent-to-own services for four years. A loving and nurturing figure, she embraced both the role of mother and father for her children, always putting family first. Her heart extended beyond her own home as she was a guiding force in the recovery community, marking five years of sobriety while supporting others on their journeys.
She had an immense capacity for kindness, often opening her home to those in need, offering them not just shelter but love and guidance. Her beloved dog, Tucker Lee Knight, was her constant companion, bringing her endless joy.
Raised as the daughter of a pastor, Paula’s faith was the cornerstone of her life. She carried a deep and personal relationship with God, rooted in compassion, forgiveness, and unwavering love for her family. She fiercely defended her children, loved her grandchildren wholeheartedly, and took immense pride in being their cherished “GiGi.”
Paula found peace in the beauty of nature, whether at the beach or exploring the outdoors. She always sought new experiences and appreciated the simple wonders of the world around her. She will be remembered for her selflessness, her strength, and the love she gave so freely to those who needed it most. Paula is preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Auther E. Knight and Joyce Griner Knight.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her beloved children, Jonathan Knight and Jessica Tate (Felicia); grandchildren, Raina Knight, Zoey Knight, Christopher Downs, Griffin Morris and Trey Bowers and siblings, Christy Griffin, Nina Jones, Theresa Knight, Debbie Mays-Kolnik and Beth Weeks.
