R.C. DeFoor, 77, passed away on Thursday, March 2, 2006. Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 5, 2006 at First Baptist Church of Centerville with interment following in Centerville Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday, March 4, 2006 from 6 until 9 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home.
Mr. DeFoor was born on August 14, 1928 in Chatsworth, Georgia. He was a native of Gordon County before moving to Houston County in1956. He founded DeFoor Drywall and Acoustical Supply in 1966. He retired in 1997 but the company is still owned and operated by ten family members. He was a member and Deacon of Oostanaula Baptist Church in Calhoun, Georgia and attended First Baptist Church in Centerville, where he was a member of the Sutherlin Sunday School Class. Mr. DeFoor was a founding member of Westside Baptist Church. He was a charter member of the Central Georgia Vintage Chevrolet Club. He also was a member of the Middle Georgia Antique Auto Club, a mason and member of the Tyrian Lodge, a Scottish Rite, and a twenty five year Shriner. His parents, Gurdies and Essie DeFoor; daughter, Saralyn DeFoor; brother, James DeFoor; preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of fifty nine years, Sarah Cagle DeFoor, Warner Robins; daughters, Charlotte Lockhart (Sonny); Debbie Martin (Mack); Sharon Musselwhite (Tim); Bebe Mackey (Calvin); sons, D. Jay DeFoor (Terri); T. W. DeFoor (Susan), all of Warner Robins; grandchildren, Kristen Boys, Brandon and Britton Lockhart; Jenae and Mitchell Martin; Amanda Hayes and Shay Blanton; Bradley, Clayton and Shelley DeFoor; Dana and Sarah Mackey; Briggs and Madison DeFoor; five great grandchildren; sisters, Ethel Chatham, College Park; and Joy Lee McConnell, Newnan.
