Mary Rachel Taylor Urquhart passed away after a brief illness on May 3, 2021, at Houston Medical Center. She was 74 years old.
Born on November 21, 1946, in Vidalia, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late James Frank Taylor and Mary Elizabeth Boyd Taylor. She retired as a phlebotomist at LabCorp after working there for many years. Rachel had a zest for life that was best likened to the character Ouiser, from “Steel Magnolias.” She lived life to the fullest, having a big personality to match it.
Rachel loved her puppies, family, and grandchildren, and not necessarily in that order. She was a huge fan of any type of music and she passed along this passion to her family. Her late husband, John Urquhart, to whom she was married for 31 years, was a musician and this helped perpetuate her love of music. She was also an avid reader. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Earl Taylor.
Those left to mourn the loss of Rachel include her children, Jim Langston (Penny), Donna Rogers (Mike), Timothy Langston (Jonathon Parker), and Kimberly Green (David); grandchildren, Kyle Kinsey, Mathew Kinsey, Dustin Rogers, Michael Kitchens, and Nicklaus Green; and siblings, Rayburn Taylor and Cleo Mobley.
A memorial gathering will take place starting at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 8, 2021, at The Farmhouse at McCullough Funeral Home.
