Ralph Funderburk, 77, entered into rest on Saturday, November 27, 2010.
Mr. Funderburk was born on May 28, 1933 in Garfield. A proud veteran of the United States Navy, Mr. Funderburk retired from the National Weather Service as the Cooperative Program Manager. Mr. Funderburk was a Councilman for the city of Centerville in the mid-1960s and a prior member of the Centerville Bagpipe Band. An avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting and working in his woodshop. He was a charter member of Westside Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and interim Minister of Music. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Effie Funderburk.
His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife, Sandra Funderburk, Warner Robins; daughters, Kathy Harris (Richard), Houston, TX; Kellen Waldron, Houston, TX; Wendy Veal (David), Warner Robins; son, Chad Funderburk (Amy), Gaston, SC; sister, Ann Goodridge (Alan), Toldeo, OH; brother, Gene Funderburk (Carolyn), Wilmington, NC; thirteen grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 30, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at Westside Baptist Church at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 1, 2010, Reverend Mobley Cross and Dr. Wayne Dorsett officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the Heart of Georgia Hospice, 103 Westridge Drive, Warner Robins, 31088 or to the United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation, through the website at UMDF.org.
