Rhunelle Smith Peterman

Rhunelle Smith Peterman went to her eternal home eight days shy of her 92nd birthday on March 8, 2014. She was a resident at Summerhill Nursing Home in Perry, Georgia. Rhunelle is preceded in death by her parents Otis W. and Claude Smith, her husband, of 59 years, Walter Bernard Peterman, Sr., her son Walter Bernard "Bernie" Peterman Jr., and her sister, Reba Butler.

She is survived by son, Danny Edward and Tollyan Peterman, Ball Ground, GA; two brothers, Otis and Anne Smith; Wendall and Beth Smith all of Sandersville, GA; four granddaughters, Michelle and John Hunt, Lumas, WA; Alicia Peterman, Portland, OR; and their mother, Pat Peterman, Arkansas; Natalie and Chuck Mattson, Buford, GA; Cynthia Greer, Ball Ground, GA and grandson, Dallas Peterman, Clarkston, MI; and his mother Sandra Peterman, Michigan; four great-grandchildren, John and James Mattson, Olivia Greer, and Samuel Hunt; three sisters-in- law, several nieces and nephews.

Rhunelle and Bernard moved to 121 Pearce Drive, Warner Robins in the summer of 1949. They became the first residents of Walker Heights. She was a devoted home-maker, housewife and dedicated mother who loved to cook and feed people.

Rhunelle and Bernard were "Charter Members" of Central Baptist Church joining in 1955, where she taught the "Beginners" Sunday School Class for over 25 years. She was an active member of the Women's Missionary Union and the church choir. Rhunelle was the last surviving member of "The Lady's Trio" preceded in death by Jean Thompson, Vonzeal Dorriety, and June Walker, pianist. During the mid-1950's "The Lady's Trio" were regulars on Reverend Jimmy Water's weekly radio program in Macon, GA.
