Vietnam veteran, Richard Lee Coile, who served with the U.S. Navy, passed away August 12, 2020, at the age of 76. Born to the late Maurice and Ruth Elizabeth Coile on July 24, 1944, he was married to Mitchell Anna Coile until her death in 2008. He will be laid to rest with a graveside service in Magnolia Park Cemetery on Monday, August 17, 2020, at 1:00 p.m.
Richard was born in Macon, Georgia but lived most of his life in Warner Robins, graduating from Warner Robins High School. From there he served in the U.S. Navy, reaching the rank of Petty Officer Third Class. After serving his country, Richard went to work on the civilian side in support of the military as an equipment specialist at Robins Air Force Base.
His children, family and friends describe Richard as a man with a heart of gold who loved to read books. Those who are left to honor his memory are son Charles Benson of Dublin; daughter, Crystal Sorber of Modesto, California; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister, Maurine Coile Spieldenner of East Sandwich, Massachusetts; devoted friend, Fannie Scott of Warner Robins; goddaughter, Miracle Scott of Warner Robins; and friend Libby Buzzell of Warner Robins.
The family will accept flowers or donations may be given in memory of Richard to the Laurens County Special Olympics, 102 Travel Center Blvd., Dublin, GA 31021.
McCullough Funeral Home and Crematory has the privilege of being entrusted with these arrangements.
