Richard O. Smith

Richard O. Smith of Haynesville, Georgia, passed away on Monday, October 11, 2021. He was 71 years old.

The son of the late Robert W. and Lillie Mae Hamilton Smith, Richard was born on August 25, 1950, in Augusta, Georgia. He traveled around the United States and abroad as an Electrical Designer for many years until his retirement. In his golden years, he enjoyed fishing, working on his property, and going to the beach. As a self-proclaimed cowboy, Richard also enjoyed horseback riding.

Richard is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Sandra Baxter Smith; children, Missy Hall of Union, South Carolina; Mandy Long (Justin) of Wrightsville; Nikki Tate (Chris) of Pensacola, Florida; Amanda Bruce (Darrell) of Haynesville; and Sharon Brown (Kevin Ferguson) of Warner Robins; grandchildren, Antonio, Dustin, Hayley, Devin, Aspen, Dawson, Hannah, Bryson, Alexis, Cody; great-grandchildren, Nevaeh, Delaney, Isaiah, Karter, Kimberlynn, Bradyn; siblings, Rozalyn Kerr (Rick), Ronnie Smith (Gail), Reba Smith, Robert Smith (Zettie), Bessie Law (Jimmy), Allen Smith (Justine); step-siblings, Leila Sineath, Roby Chaney (Betty Jo), Bobby Chaney (Song); as well as numerous nieces and nephews; and horse, “Bandit.”

Visitation with Mr. Smith’s family will be Saturday, October 16, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. The funeral service celebrating his life will immediately follow at 5:00 p.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home.
