Richard Tarver Cook, Jr.

Richard Tarver Cook, Jr., 87, entered into rest on Thursday, December 10, 2009.

Mr. Cook was born on July 5, 1922, in Savannah, and loved his hometown. He played saxophone Big Band Music, loved seafood and enjoyed time on Tybee Island beach. With pride and honor, he served his country in the United States Air Force, participating in World War II. Serving as a union steward representative, he retired from Robins Air Force Base as a mechanic in civil service. He enjoyed working as a sales representative and manager for J.C. Lewis Ford Company and Backus Cadillac, both Savannah, Garland Pugh Ford, Macon, and Moody Ford, Perry. His parents, Richard T. Cook, Sr., and Thelma B. Messer Cook; daughter, Angela Suzanne Cook; and grandson, Keith Cook, preceded him in death.

His memory will forever be treasured by his wife of forty-three years, Carmolene Hill Cook; children, Vickie (James, Sr.) Davis, Bonaire, Ginger (late, Randy) Burgess, Fort Valley, John Cook, Warner Robins, Chris Cook (Jay Malloy), Atlanta, and Catherine (Donald) Flickinger, Gray; Kenneth Cook Weiss, Gail Cook Weiss, and David Allen Cook; grandchildren, James Davis, Jr., Nikki Reynolds, Ashley Davis, Danny Davis, Shannon Burgess, Justin Burgess, Dylan Burgess, Hannah Cook, Jason and David Flickinger; great-grandchildren, James Davis, III, Grant Davis, Tyler and Chloe Reynolds, Triston Cannon, Dawson Burgess, Trace Burgess, Riley and Abigail Flickinger; beloved sister, Virginia Henry, Alexandria, Virginia; and twenty nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Monday, December 14, 2009, from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 15, 2009, at Greenwich Cemetery in Savannah, Reverend Chad Massey officiating. Memorial donations may be made to Heart of Georgia Inpatient Hospice, 1120 Morningside Drive, Perry GA 31069.
