Rita Crews, 91, was called home to be with her Savior on Tuesday, September 1, 2015. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 4, 2015 from 1:30 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church located at 1322 Feagin Mill Rd, Warner Robins, Ga. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 p.m. with Reverend Paul Cowles officiating.
Mrs. Crews was a member of Friendship Baptist Church and a cherished member of Esther Sunday School Class. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend.
She was a native of Spartanburg County, South Carolina, born to the parentage of the late Charles S. and Mamie Spencer. She was preceded in death by her husband, David Layton Crews, Jr.; first husband, Marion Pat Damron; four sisters; two brothers; and in later years a valued friend and companion, Johnnie Raper.
She lived in Macon, Georgia since 1962, moving there from Charlotte, North Carolina and resided in Warner Robins since 1990.
She and her late husband, David Layton Crews, Jr. were the owners of Crews AAA Insurance Underwriters, Inc. and Crews Quick Seal Chemical Company.
She leaves to cherish her memories a son, M.P. "Skip" Damron of Macon; daughter, Debra Damron Staudt (Bill) of Warner Robins; sister, Marion Barnette of Spartanburg, South Carolina; grandchildren, Mary Katherine Spence (Adam) of Athens, Georgia, and Trey Damron (Brittany) of Concord, North Carolina; four great-grandchildren and one on the way; and many loving nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of Rita Spencer Crews to Friendship Baptist Church Building Fund, 1322 Feagin Mill Rd. Warner Robins, Ga. 31088.
