Robbie Williams Pope

Robbie Williams Pope, 91, passed away on May 13, 2011, after an extended illness. Born on September 6, 1919, in Jacksonville, Georgia, she was a long time member of First Baptist Church of Warner Robins. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Franklin Pope; parents, Robert Seymour and Minnie Lee Williams; step-son, Ernest A. Pope; brother, Burch Williams; sisters, Mary Lee Padgett Haley, Lola Inez Ellsworth and Janie Mae Jeffries.

Mrs. Pope had a long and enjoyable employment as manager of ladies Ready-to-Wear at Davison's (now Macy's) in Macon. At First Baptist Church, she served on the decorating committee to renovate the original church building to the present chapel. She was a member of Keenagers and Friendship Sunday School Class. An avid golfer, she served as President of Houston Lake Ladies Golf Association, was a former member of Sandy Run Ladies Golf Association, and won the President's Cup and Women's Club championship several times. She was an enviable cook, and during football season she prepared many meals in her motor home for Auburn football players and cheerleaders. Mrs. Pope was a former member of Warner Robins Women's Club and Homemaker Garden Club. Her favorite activity involved traveling in the motor home with her husband throughout the United States for months at a time. An avid shell collector, she spent hours searching the shores at her vacation home in Panama City Beach, Florida. Mrs. Pope was a gifted needlework artist who will be affectionately remembered for the crocheted receiving blankets she made for expectant mothers. Many of her framed needle works hang in family members' homes.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her daughter, Wynanne Hilliard (Ed), Warner Robins; step-son, John Pope (Kaye), Dexter; step-daughter-in-law, Marguerite Pope, Warner Robins; granddaughters, Kimberly Hilliard Sharpe (Mark), Cumming, and Kelli Hilliard, Atlanta; great-grandson, Jackson Sharpe and great-granddaughter, Morgan Sharpe, both of Cumming; devoted niece, Janie Elizabeth Elton (Ricky), Bolingrbroke; niece, LaVerne Swift (Wesley), Huntsville, Alabama; nephews, Robert Seymour Williams (Faye), Madison, Alabama, Gene Jeffries (Wanda), Columbia, South Carolina, Dan Padgett, Milan, Georgia, Rick Ellsworth, Rex Ellsworth (Jaime), all of Friday Harbor, Washington; devoted friend, Jane Shellhouse, numerous extended family members and precious pet poodle, Suzzie.

Visitation will be Sunday, May 15, 2011 from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 16, 2011 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home, Dr. Kelly Pritchett, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Magnolia Park Cemetery.
