Bob Greene, 87, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, January 04, 2019.
Bob was born on November 04, 1931 in Paden, Mississippi to the late Jake and Sylvia Greene. He was a 1949 graduate of New Site High School in New Site, Mississippi and of NEMJC in Booneville, Mississippi in 1956. He proudly served his country with 4 years of active duty service in the United States Air Force and attended UGA night school from 1956-1962. Bob worked civil service at Robins Air Force Base from November 1955 to January 1987, retiring as Director of Planes and Programs, Hq AFRES, DCS Communications and Computers. He received numerous awards during his career including two Air Force Meritorious Awards one in 1981 and another in 1987.
Bob loved life and was always involved in various community projects; he served as the president of PTO, a little league coach, a member of the Houston County Tax Equalization Board, and on the Special School Board Committee from 1990 to 2016. He worked and helped manage the WRCOC Food Pantry and was active in the Alzheimer’s Association as a fundraiser and speaker at special events.
Bob was preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years, Dorothy Davidson “Dot” Greene and parents, Jake and Sylvia Greene.
Left to cherish his memories are his children, Sonya (Sam) Kassouf, Bobby (Joy) Greene and Jeff (Debbie) Greene; his grandchildren, Robby (Sandy) Kassouf, Stevie Kassouf, Caroline (Josh) Miner, James Robert “J.R.” Greene, Ashton Greene, Allyssa Greene, and J.J. Greene; great grandchildren, Camden Kassouf, Ryleigh Kassouf, Anna Miner; and sister, Barbara Shockley.
Visitation will be Saturday, January 5, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 6, 2019 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Afterwards, Robert “Bob” Lee Greene will be laid to rest in Bonaire Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of Robert “Bob” Lee Greene to Warner Robins Church of Christ Food Pantry at 1947 Watson Blvd., Warner Robins, Georgia 31093 or the Alzheimer’s Association at 886 Mulberry Street, Macon, Georgia 31201.
