Robert Burns Norwood

September 19, 1919 — June 6, 2002

Robert ''Bob'' Burns Norwood, 82, died Thursday, June 6 at his residence. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 8 in the Chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Visitation will be Friday from 7:00 until 8:30 pm at McCullough Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Hospice of Houston County, 2066 Watson Blvd., Warner Robins, GA, 31093 or the Foundation of Wesley Woods, 1817 Clifton Road, Atlanta, GA, 30329, please note ''Neurology Department''.

Mr. Norwood was born in Birmingham, Alabama. He was raised in Atlanta. Before moving to Perry he had lived in Montezuma, GA for forty years. He was a graduate of Georgia Tech and a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Army. He retired from Civil Service at Robins Air Force Base where he had been a Mechanical Engineer. Mr. Norwood was a member of the Kiwanis Club, the Masons, and had also served in the Coast Guard Auxiliary. He was a Methodist.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Wood Norwood, who was from Sandersville; parents, William Henry and Genevieve Norwood Kern, and his grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. William Henry Norwood, all of whom were from Perry.

Survivors include his wife, Geraldine Leaptrot Norwood, Perry; son, Edwin Pierce Norwood, Columbus, OH; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa W. Norwood Nesbitt and Dr. Robert Wood Nesbitt, Cullman, AL; stepchildren, Steve Reagan, Atlanta; Neal Reagan, Perry; Mitzi M. Reagan Fletcher, Tifton; half-brother, Jack Kern, Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Bradley, Elizabeth and Woody Nesbitt, of Cullman, AL; Alexis Galford Norwood, Columbus, OH; step-grandchildren, William Henson Reagan, Perry; Thomas Allen Fletcher, Tifton; and Godchild, Chelsea Nichole Holtsclaw.

McCullough Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
