Robert "Bob" Scheideler, 70, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family, and entered into eternal rest on Friday, December 15, 2017.
Bob was born in Jersey City, New Jersey, on April 7, 1947. He was preceded in death by his mother, Eileen Harrigan and his uncle, Charles Harrigan. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force as a radar repair technician, then as an instructor at Keesler AFB, Biloxi, MS, until his honorable discharge in 1968. Afterwards he worked for a defense contractor, Vitro, in Ft Walton Beach, Fl, until he began his Civil Service career at Robins Air Force Base in 1973, as an electronics technician, then supervisor in the Depot Maintenance Directorate. He accepted a reassignement into the Special Operations Forces (SOF) Directorate, first as an equipment specialist, then as a supervisor, and finally as a Logistics Program Manager. Throughout his career, he had many interesting assignments and excelled at them all, always becoming a mentor for those around him. His Foreign Military Support to Israel was the highlight of his career and he was able to visit the country many times in their support. Bob retired in 2002 from civil service, but continued to work with various defense contractors, including Adroit, SRA, TCS and L-3 Com for the next 10 years, before finally retiring in 2012.
His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife, Cynthia Scheideler of Kathleen; his children, Jennifer Ford (William) of Port Richie, Florida, Sean Scheideler (Kathleen) and Emily Scheideler, both of Atlanta.
He attended St. Patrick Catholic Church. A vigil, including a Rosary, will be held on Monday, December 18, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home with visitation following until 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church.
The family will gratefully accept flowers, or donations may be given in memory of Robert Scheideler to Heart of Georgia Hospice, 103 Westridge Dr., Warner Robins, GA 31088.
