Robert Daniel Peek

Robert D. Peek (Coach), age 60, passed away at home surrounded by family and friends on Tuesday, July 13, 2010.

A Veteran of the Vietnam War, he stayed in Warner Robins after his service career and came to be well known in the community as Mr. Bob, an advocate for mentally retarded and mentally ill; his entire career was dedicated to helping those special populations find their way into the mainstream of society. Mr. Peek was born in Bainbridge, Georgia, but raised in Montgomery, AL, so he became an extreme Alabama football fan. He was also a member of Northside Baptist Church. He loved sports and Umpired with the Houston County Umpire's Association as well as Gate Manager for the Georgia National Fair. He loved to travel.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Dorothy Peek, as well as his nephew Joey Gissendanner of Montgomery. Survivors include his wife, Constance; sons, Buster, Craig and Danny; daughter-in-law, Christina; six loving grandchildren, Buster Peek, Kelly Peek, Ashley Peek, Courtney Peek, Isabelle Peek, all residents of the local area, and Brandon Clakely of Montgomery; loving sisters, Debi Keller and Beverly Gissendanner of Montgomery, AL; a brother, Jody Peek of Milton, FL; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will include Robert's Vietnam friend for life, Tony Deyoung of Mauldin, South Carolina.

Visitation for family and friends will be at McCullough Funeral Home on Thursday, July 15, 2010, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Funeral Services are planned immediately after at McCullough Funeral Home Chapel, with entombment following at Magnolia Park Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Robert's name to Happy Hour Workshop, 802 Young Ave, Warner Robins Georgia.
