Robert E. Wilson, Sr.

Mr. Robert E. Wilson, Sr., 63, passed away Thursday, January 9, 2003 at Northside Hospital in Macon. Services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, January 13 at Southside Baptist Church with interment following in Evergreen Cemetery in Macon. The Reverend Jerry Walls and Reverend Randall Nash will officiate. Visitation will be Sunday evening from 7:00 until 9:00 pm at McCullough Funeral Home.

Mr. Wilson was born in Madrid, Alabama and was retired from Civil Service at Robins Air Force Base with 34 years of service. He was an active member of Southside Baptist Church where he had been a Deacon since 1964, serving for many years as the Chairman of the Deacon Board. Also at Southside, Mr. Wilson was a member of the Amazing Grays and was a former Sunday School teacher. He was currently serving as President of the Centerville Senior Citizens. Additionally, he was a member of the staff at McCullough Funeral Home. His father, Robert H. Wilson, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Shirley “Ann” Wilson, Centerville; mother, Romelle D. Wilson, Macon; sons and daughters-in-law, Robert “Bobby” Wilson, Jr. and wife Lesley, Warner Robins; James Hampton Wilson and wife Beth, Ellijay; daughter and son-in-law, Cindy Scruggs and husband Bobby, Byron; brother, Thomas W. Wilson, Macon; granddaughters, Rebecca J. Wilson, Chelsea V. Wilson, and Allyson D. Wilson, all of Warner Robins; grandsons, James H. Wilson, Jr., Phillip Taylor Wilson, both of Ellijay; Seth W. Scruggs, Byron; granddaughter, Whitney N. Scruggs, Byron; and several nieces and nephews.
