Robert “Ed” Harper Sr., 86, entered into rest on Wednesday, June 7, 2023.
Ed was born on January 19, 1937, in Blakely, Georgia. Ed enjoyed life and loved his family. He spent many years working in the furniture business and later, serving as a licensed funeral director and embalmer for several different funeral homes. He took big pride in serving families while they were going through some of their most difficult times. He looked forward to his gossip group every Wednesday, where he was able to visit with his friends. Ed was a loving husband for over 61 years, father, and grandfather. He honorably served his country in the Army National Guard which contributed to how proud he was of his grandchildren; he often spoke about Hunter serving in the Navy, and Timothy serving his community at the Houston County 911 Center. He will be greatly missed by everyone that knew him.
His parents, Pete and Orma Harper, and his son-in-law, Randy Jones preceded him in death.
His memory will forever be treasured by his wife, Mary Jane Coker Harper; children, Susan Harper Jones and Bobby Harper (Beth); grandchildren, Roman Jones (Jerre), Troy Jones (Amie), Hunter Harper (Ansley), and Timothy Jones; and his great granddaughter Addalyn Harper.
Visitation will be Friday, June 9, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the mausoleum in Parkway Memorial Gardens. A funeral service will immediately follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of Robert “Ed” Harper Sr. to The Parkinson Foundation at 200 SE 1st St. Ste. 800, Miami, FL 33131.
