On the evening of Thursday, September 7, 2017, Bob McDowell, passed away unexpectedly at the Medical Center Navicent Health in Macon. He was 87 years old.
Bob was born on April 1, 1930 in Fitzgerald, Georgia to the late Grover and Dora Stone McDowell. After high school, he proudly served in the United States Air Force. Later, Bob began his 33 year career in civil service at Robins Air Force Base where he retired as a Technician Order Manager. He was a member and past President of the Warner Robins Jaycee’s and was influential in starting the local Happy Hour Service Center. Bob enjoyed writing poems, several of which were published; he was also a songwriter and a writer for the Daily Sun. He was a faithful member of Second Baptist Church.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years, Joan Hogan McDowell.
He leaves his memory behind with his son, Michael McDowell (Kari) of Marshallville, Georgia; grandchildren, Lindcey Haddle (John) and Shawn McDowell; five great-grandchildren; and brother, Bill McDowell.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at Magnolia Park Cemetery where he will be laid to rest next to his late wife, Joan Hogan McDowell.
The family will accept flowers or donations may be given in memory of Mr. McDowell to Second Baptist Church Building Fund, 2504 Moody Rd., Warner Robins, GA 31088.
