Robert Stanley Popkoski, a proud retired veteran and beloved family man, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2025, at the age of 76. Born on March 18, 1948, in Mt. Carmel, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Matthew and Genevieve Popkoski.

Robert’s love for his country led him to a distinguished career in the United States Air Force, where he served with honor and dedication. He retired after many years of service, a decision that allowed him to spend more time with the people he cherished most. Robert’s devotion to his late wife, Kil Sun Popkoski, was unwavering. The two were married for 49 years, and he often spoke with immense pride about her strength, beauty, and the life they built together.

Family was of the utmost importance to Robert. He held a special place in his heart for his sister, who was one of his closest companions, and he made sure to show his love and gratitude to all who knew him. Robert’s kindness, generosity, and great sense of humor endeared him to friends and loved ones alike. His heart was full, and his love was shared openly and freely with those around him.

An active member of the American Legion, Robert found great joy in the camaraderie of his fellow veterans. He also found comfort in his faith, especially through the words of Psalm 23, which brought him peace throughout his life.

Robert found great fulfillment in repairing and building houses, a skill he took immense pride in. He was known for his hard work and craftsmanship. Robert was known for his exceptional cooking skills, always bringing joy to his family and friends with his delicious meals and the love he poured into every dish. He was also a loving husband who enjoyed planting flowers and plants to brighten the world for his late wife, Kil Sun.

Some of Robert’s fondest memories were of his time spent living in California with his family. He looked back on those years as some of the best moments of his life.

While he will be deeply missed by all who knew him, Robert was ready to be reunited with his beloved wife and to rest in peace. His legacy of love, faith, and service will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.

In addition to his parents and wife, Robert was preceded in death by his son, John Popkoski.

His memory will forever be treasured by his son, James Popkoski (Won Kyung) of South Korea; grandchildren Kiyana, Dol Yoon, Asher, and Chloe; and in-laws, Tae Yong Pak, Kyong Min Yi, and Dee KyOngok Winecoff.
