Ron Antonio, 60, passed away on Thursday, March 30, 2017.
Ron was born on December 21, 1956 in Wilmington, Delaware to the late Francis "Hudson" Antonio and Ann Marie (Givens) Antonio. He resided most of his early life in New Castle, Delaware. In 1980, he enlisted in the United States Air Force where he worked in secure communications. Ron's notable record of service in the USAF includes serving at five United States active duty military bases, and foreign tours in Italy and Germany. During his tour in Europe, he served as a communications specialist with NATO forces in Belgium. Throughout his military career, he received multiple awards in recognition of his performance and achievements. After 20 honorable years of service, Ron retired with a rank Tech Sergeant at Robins Air Force Base. In 2000, he began his career in civil service and was currently employed at Dobbins Air Force Base as a contract specialist, and, in 2007, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Management from Wilmington University. Ron was notorious for his exceptional carpentry work as he crafted many memorable undertakings with his beloved father. He was an avid outdoorsman, as he participated in many hiking adventures in Germany, and liked watching a good football game. Ron had an entertaining sense of humor, and particularly enjoyed being silly with his grandchildren. He was charming, gracious and made countless lifelong friends.
His memory will forever be treasured by his children, Janice Stillwell (Brad) of Byron, Laura Antonio (Chris Dupraw) of Warner Robins and Brian Antonio of Warner Robins; his four loving grandchildren, Chelsea Stillwell, Colin Stillwell, Carter Stillwell and Tatum Dupraw; five siblings, John Antonio (Joyce) of Virginia, Joseph "Joe" Antonio (Joanne) of Delaware, Deborah "Deb" Thomas (Dale) of Florida, Renee Kilroy (Kevin) of Delaware, and Leigh Miller (Robert) of Florida; uncle and cherished friend, Joe Givens of Delaware; dear cousin, Joanne Givens of Maryland; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation with Ron's family will be Monday, April 3, 2017 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 in the Chapel of McCullough. Following the service, Ron will be laid to rest in the Georgia Veteran's Memorial Cemetery with full military honors.
