Ronald E. Gentry, 88, entered into rest on Saturday, January 8, 2011.
Born on November 6, 1922 in Turner County, Georgia, Mr. Gentry proudly served his country in the United States Navy and was a WW II veteran. He retired from Civil Service at Robins Air Force Base after 27 years of faithful service. He was a member of Second Baptist Church and of the Joy Jubilee Sunday School Class. His parents, Thomas Lee Gentry and Effie Layton Gentry, preceded him in death.
His memory will forever be treasured by his wife of 60 years, Eleanor Gentry, Warner Robins; sons, Daryl Gentry (Sandy), and Gus Gentry (Lori); daughter, Lisa Hisaw (Jimmy); seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home, the Reverend Don Smith officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Interment will be held the same day at 3:00 p.m., in Salem Baptist Church Cemetery in Rochelle, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations to Evercare Hospice, 4875 Riverside Drive, #104, Macon GA 31210.
