Rosalind Francine Hollinshed, age 70, of Fort Valley, Georgia, peacefully entered into rest on Sunday, February 2, 2025, at Houston Healthcare in Warner Robins.
Born on March 9, 1954, in Fort Valley, Georgia, Rosalind was the eighth of twelve children born to the late Thomas Fluellen and Bessie Mae Mullins Fluellen. She grew up in Fort Valley where she graduated from Hunt High School in 1972. Rosalind was a devoted mother, homemaker, and later worked at Houston Medical Center in the Environmental Services Department, where she took great pride in ensuring the emergency rooms were always clean and welcoming. Her colleagues adored her, and she often brought homemade meals to share, spreading joy wherever she went.
An exceptionally skilled cook and seamstress, Rosalind was known for her handmade clothes that she lovingly created for her family and friends. She approached everything she did with passion, whether it was learning about new cultures, traveling to places like Hawaii and the Philippines, or experimenting with new cuisines in her kitchen. Rosalind’s resilience, elegance, strength, and class shone through in every part of her life. She had a natural curiosity about the world, which extended to a love for gardening and tending to the many flowers in her yard (all of which she knew by name).
She cherished the time spent with her family, especially with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, teaching them about the joys of growing vegetables. Rosalind’s home was always a place of comfort, where everyone was welcomed, and everyone had a place at her table.
Rosalind was resilient, strong-willed, and always active, never one to sit still for very long. Her generosity, grace, and devotion will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
In addition to her parents, Rosalind was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, William Jerome Hollinshed; her daughter, M’Keda Hollingshed Maccauly; brothers, Jerry Williams, Defrantz, Thomas Jr., Larry, Connie, Malcolm, and Tyrone Fluellen, and sister, Reina Calhoun.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her children, Ayasha Hollinshed, Tatania Fluellen, and Valdrias Fluellen (Tanzoria); ten grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; siblings, Betty J. Strickland of Warner Robins, Kelvin Fluellen of Fort Valley, Nanette Troutman (David) of Lithonia; as well as several nieces, nephews, other beloved extended family members and friends.
