Roy Herbert Stacey, 77, passed away on Monday, August 28, 2006. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 31, in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with interment following in Magnolia Park Cemetery.
Mr. Stacey was born one of 12 children to the late Ellis Marion Stacey and Annie Bates Stacey on April 3, 1929 in Rossville, Georgia. He was a graduate of West Limestone High School in Limestone County, Alabama. A veteran of the United States Army and Air Force, he served as a medic during the Korean Conflict and earned the rank of Staff Sergeant. He worked for the Warner Robins Police Department earning the rank of Sergeant. Having worked for the Warner Robins branch of the United States Postal Service he retired after 22 years of service as a postal clerk. Roy’s passions in life were family, fishing, gardening and befriending wild animals. He truly enjoyed time spent with his family and created our “Lake Sinclair Family Fishing Club”. Mr. Stacey was a member of First United Methodist Church in Warner Robins.
Survivors include his loving wife, Opal Heflin Stacey, Milledgeville; children, Martin Stacey (Denise), Bonaire; Tony Stacey (Sharon), Kathleen; grandchildren, Robin Stacey and Seth Stacey, both of Bonaire; Heather Stacey, Holly Stacey, Annie Stacey, all of Kathleen; siblings, Dean Stewart, Athens, AL; Doris Green, Elkmont, AL; Lloyd Stacey, Madison, AL; Cecil Stacey, Athens, AL; Glyndell Stacey, Rockmart, GA; Leonard Stacey, Goodsprings, TN; and June Bates, Town Creek, AL.
