Roy M. Henson

Roy M. Henson entered into rest on Friday, June 25, 2021.

Roy was born on October 28, 1946 in Mobile, Alabama, to the late Harvey and Gertrude Henson. With pride and honor, he served his country in the United States Air Force as an Airman 2nd Class. Following his military service, Roy dedicated many years, until his retirement, working Civil Service at Robins Air Force Base as a sheet metal mechanic. A big supporter of the Prisoners of War, Roy was very patriotic and loved gardening, which showed in his military garden at his home. He loved working on cars, motorcycles, attending swap meets and auctions where he collected many items. During the holidays, Roy would volunteer his time feeding the homeless at the Rescue Mission and would often cook hams and turkeys to give away during Thanksgiving and Christmas. He had a servant’s heart and will be missed by many. Roy was preceded in death by his siblings, Ralph Gann, Geraldine Fannin, Wallace Henson and Faye Peavy.

His memory will forever be treasured by his loving daughter, Daphne Henson Carr (Ronnie); grandchildren, Brooke Newberry (Jake), Ansley Collins, Madison Carr and Victoria Carr; great grandchildren, Asher Newberry, Gracie Newberry and Autumn Newberry; sister, Dean King (Bobby) of Cartersville and brother, Carl Henson (Pat) of Aiken, South Carolina and his beloved fur companions, Buddy and “Miss Junya”.

Visitation with Roy’s family will be Wednesday, June 30, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. The funeral service celebrating his life will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel. Following the service, Roy will be laid to rest in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.
