Roy Richardson passed away on Monday, November 2, 2020 at St. Joseph’s Candler Hospital in Savannah. He was 77 years old. Born on May 15, 1943 in Valdosta, Georgia, Roy was the son of the late Roy E. and Eleanor Whipple Richardson.
Following college at St. Bernard in Cullman, Alabama, Roy proudly joined the United States Air Force where he served for five years navigating B-52’s in Vietnam. He transitioned into a 20-year career in the Air National Guard after his time in active duty, and was also a proud firefighter. Roy was an avid University of Alabama football fan (ROLL TIDE!) and built and designed railroad cars. He was a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus, as well. Roy will be remembered by all who knew him for his outgoing personality and kind spirit.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Heide Hamp Richardson; children, Angela Barroso (Andres) and Martin Richardson (Crystal); grandchildren, Olivia, Julia, Caroline, Faith, Cole, and Christopher; stepchildren, Nicole Laroussi (Mounir), Nathalie Maczhe, and Michael Pratt; and several step-grandchildren.
A private Funeral Mass will be held for the family at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 6, 2020, in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with Father Marcus Voss officiating. He will be laid to rest in Parkway Memorial Gardens following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of Roy to a charity of your choice.
