Royce Allen Selph, Sr.

On Wednesday, October 19, 2022, our beloved husband, father, stepfather, grandfather, brother and friend, Royce Allen Selph, Sr., passed into the hands of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was 71 years old.

Royce was born on April 22, 1951 in Thomaston, GA and grew up in Macon and McRae. He was a jack of all trades having worked in several different industries through the years. Royce worked at various gas stations and nursing homes, for Snow’s Memorial Chapel and later as a cab driver. When he wasn’t at work, you could find him watching Western movies, picking up scrap metal or “junkin’,” fishing or telling a good story. Royce never met a stranger and had so many friends to prove it. He formerly attended Red Hill Church in McRae.

He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Mary Louise Selph of Warner Robins; son, Royce Allen Selph, Jr. of Warner Robins; stepchildren, Danielle Purvis (Shane Selph) of Warner Robins, Shirley Knowles of Byron, and Dewey and Brenda Chastain, both of Forsyth; grandchildren, Dustin Knowles, Serenity Nicholson, Hal’ey Purvis, Caleb Nicholson, Han’na Purvis and Brayden Mills; great-grandchildren, Baylor Knowles and Grayson Taylor; and siblings, Inez Wilson of Macon, Helen Bazemore of Macon and Francis Harris of Forsyth. Royce was preceded in death by his parents, Dan Earl and Vera Selph; and brothers, William Selph, Bobby Selph and Curtis Selph.

A memorial service celebrating Royce’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 23, 2022, in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home.
