Rubye Smith Braswell, 92, passed away on Friday, June 17, 2011.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 19, 2011 3:00 p.m. at the Alamo United Methodist Church in Alamo, Georgia. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. at the church on the date of the service. Interment will be private.

Mrs. Braswell was born in Dodge County on September 30, 1918. She was the daughter of the late Walter Thomas Smith and Lucy Scarborough Smith. She resided for many years in Alamo, Georgia, and had resided in Warner Robins for the last seventeen years. She was a member of the Alamo United Methodist Church where she sponsored the Methodist Youth Fellowship (MYF) for many years.

Mrs. Braswell was preceded in death by her husband, Roy "Oris" Braswell, Sr.; daughter, Teresa Braswell; daughter-in-law, Diane (Roy) Braswell; brothers, Oscar Smith of Helena, Rollo Smith of McRae, Preston Smith of Dublin, and Eugene Smith of Eastman; and sister, Alice Tart of Arkansas City, Kansas.

Her memory will be forever cherished by her children, Hilda (Jim) Gillis of Warner Robins, Roy Braswell of Alamo, and Jesse (Debra) Braswell of Dublin; nine grandchildren, Kristi Gillis, Heidi Gillis, Justin (Laura) Braswell, Lindsay Braswell, Samantha Marsh, Lee (Brenda) Marsh, Debbie (Johnny) Cravey, Sharon Phillips and Jeannie Davis; brother, Theo (Pauline) Smith of Pensacola, Florida; sister, Dorothy Smith of Alderson, West Virginia; ten great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
