Russell Hector Kleintop, affectionately known as "Mr. Rusty," passed away on March 4th, 2025, at the age of 68 in Warner Robins, Georgia. Born on January 28th, 1957, in Jersey City, New Jersey, he was the son of the late Russell and Helen (Kithcart) Kleintop.
Rusty grew up in Ogdensburg, New Jersey, and later lived in Deltona and Orange Park, Florida, before settling in Warner Robins, Georgia. It was here that he found his true calling, working with the Houston County Board of Education as a bus driver and later as head custodian. Known for his warm heart, unwavering kindness, and infectious smile, Rusty was a beloved figure among students and faculty alike.
Rusty’s passion for animals was evident in his volunteer work, where he dedicated time to helping at Petsmart in Warner Robins and the Cochran Animal Shelter. His commitment to the welfare of animals mirrored the compassionate nature he carried with him in all aspects of life.
A cherished member of the "Breakfast Bunch," Rusty spent many mornings enjoying coffee, sharing stories, and building lasting friendships with those around him. His lighthearted spirit and generous heart left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Rusty was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Helen Kleintop; his sister, Gail Endruschat; and his sister, Joann Johnson.
He is survived by his loving sisters Debbie Taylor (Michael), Dawn Taylor (Scott), Diane Walker (Joey), Jami Grimsley, Darcie Hutchinson (Steve), Jennifer Lipke, and Katie McFarlin (Jeremy); cousins Laurie Lawlor (Kevin), Jeff Johnson (Jill), Greg Johnson (Elías), and Bryan Johnson; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Rusty will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Per his wishes, he will be laid to rest with his parents in New Jersey.
