Ruth Chapman "Ruthie" Wright

Ruth Chapman "Ruthie" Wright, 64, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, January 21, 2016.

Ruthie was born on December 25, 1951 in Whitesburg, Georgia, to the late Sam W. and Sarah Chapman II. Growing up in North Georgia, Ruthie graduated from Coosa High School. After graduation she worked for over 22 years for the City of Rome Police Department before retiring as an executive secretary. Ruthie had a passion for working in law enforcement, she loved serving her community and helping others. After retiring from the City of Rome, she began her career with the Houston County Sheriff's Office coming on as an administrator clerk with the courts in 1997. During her career with Houston County, she moved to the position of warrant clerk, and then to administrative secretary with the Criminal Investigations Division for several years. Ruthie later moved to her most current position as administrative secretary for Sheriff Cullen Talton.

Ruthie was devoted not only to her career, but to her family and her pets. She loved her dogs, "Little John", "Gracie", "Amy", and "Daisy." She is preceded in death by her husband and the love of her life, Thomas "Tommy" Wright and her parents.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her son, Gregory Mark Phillips and his wife, Loretta of Adairsville; her siblings, Sally Johnson and her husband, Joe of Plainville, Bobby Chapman and his wife, Susan of Coosa, Sam Chapman III and his wife, Lynn of Rome, Susie Rohlfs of Savannah, Ricky Chapman and his wife, Glenda of Cartersville, Jeanie Mathis of Orlando, FL, David Chapman of Rome, and Mary Smith and her husband, Hubert of Rome; and a host of other loving family and friends.

A memorial service to celebrate Ruthie's life will be held Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. until service time.
