Ruth Chism

Ruth Chism, 85, entered into rest on Friday, July 31, 2009.

Mrs. Chism was born on July 7, 1924, in New York City, New York. She was a graduate of George Washington High School and Ballard Secretarial School in New York City. Following graduation, she was an executive secretary at General Electric's Corporate Headquarters in New York for ten years. She married the love of her life, Murray Chism, Jr., in 1950, and they subsequently moved to Hickory, North Carolina, where they resided forty years. While there, she was a member of the Hickory Chapter of the Philanthropic Educational Organization and eventually served as its president. Community minded, she was also a member of the Catawba Memorial Hospital Auxiliary in Catawba County, North Carolina. A resident of Warner Robins since 2000, she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and was of the Methodist Faith. Her parents, John Ullmann and Caroline Jancar Ullmann, preceded her in death.

She will forever live in the hearts of her husband of fifty-nine years, Murray Simmons Chism, Jr., Warner Robins; son, Wayne R. Chism, Greeley, Colorado; daughter, Lynn C. Black (Bruce), Warner Robins; grandchildren, Meaghan Whitney and Andrew Chism, and Allen, Mark and Elizabeth Black.

Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the Heart of Georgia In Patient Hospice, 1120 Morningside Drive, Perry GA 31069 or the donor's favorite charity.
