Ruth L. Tyson

Ruth L. Tyson, 94, went to be with the Lord on the afternoon of Tuesday, March 24, 2015.

Ruth was born on March 21, 1921 in Laurens County, Georgia to the late William Edward and Mary Brown Long. She was a graduate of Cochran High School where she enjoyed playing basketball for the team who won the District Championship seven out of ten years. In 1940, Ruth married the love of her life, Waller Tyson, Jr. and relished in the life of serving her husband and being the mother of her three children. She retired from Tabor Junior High School as a well-respected lunchroom manager and called Houston Lake Baptist her church home for 26 years. Ruth also loved to golf and was a former member of the Houston Lake Country Club and International City Golf Club, formerly known as Sandy Run Golf Course.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Waller Murphy Tyson, Jr.; and children, Marsha Beth Crouch and Jerry Murphy Tyson.

Ruth's memory will forever be treasured by her loving son, Larry E. Tyson (Annette) of Kathleen, Georgia; grandchildren, Tarry A. Tyson, Lisa T. Speir (Rick), Stacey Mullis (Randy), Tracy Crouch (Lindsay), Clayton E. Tyson (Jessie), and Clinton A. Tyson (Angela); seven great-grandchildren; half brothers, Kenneth Long (Sara) of Blackshear, Georgia and Thomas Edward Long (Sandra) of Perry, Georgia; son-in-law, Larry Crouch of Chapin, South Carolina; and daughter-in-law, Patricia Tyson Porter of Bonaire, Georgia.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2015 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to the service. A private burial will follow in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend Fred McCoy will officiate.
