Ruth M. Miles

Ruth Miles, 77, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 30, 2012.

Ruth was born the daughter of the late Warren T. and Lena Mae Purser Meadows on December 1, 1934 in Cochran, Georgia. She was married to the late Sam Miles for forty-seven years. Ruth worked with the Macon/Bibb County Recreation Department coaching girls' basketball and softball for many years in the 1960's and 1970's, and she retired from Robins Air Force Base as the lead technician in the T.O. Library for Aircraft on the flight line in 1998. She was a current member of Shirley Hills Baptist Church and a former member of Porterfield Baptist Church in Macon.

Ruth was well-known as a giving and loving person who led a life of example for all who knew her. Her love for others and passion to help anyone she came in contact with are shining examples for all. Along with her husband and parents, her siblings, Carolyn Churchwell, Warren Meadows, Jr., B.T. Meadows, and Marci Meadows, preceded her in death.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her children, Wayne Miles (Tracy), Kathleen and Lisa Barrentine (Andy), Warner Robins; sisters, Jean Tucker (Billy), Lizella, and Sue Statham, Macon; and brother, J. W. Meadows (Martha), Macon. She was a loving "Mema" to her grandchildren, Niki Hazen (Parry), Shannon Leigh Aaron (Clint), Kristina Flanders, Stephanie Durden, Lacy Landis (Brandon), Nathan and Josh Miles, and Megan and Maranda Norman, as well as ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Thursday, November 1, 2012 from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A celebration of Ruth's life will be held Friday, November 2, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with interment following in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. The family will accept flowers, or donations may be given to Heart of GA Hospice, 103 Westridge Drive, Warner Robins, GA 31088.
