Sandra Ridling Martin of Perry, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 29, 2024, at her home and surrounded by her family. She was born in Atlanta, Georgia, on August 5, 1937, to the late William Richard Ridling, Sr. and Maggie Kathleen Pharr Ridling. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by Thomas Colbert Martin, her husband of 54 years, daughter Lisa Susan Martin, siblings, William Richard Ridling, Jr., Muriel Ridling Street, Ernest Gerald Ridling, Kathleen Ridling, Elizabeth Ridling Gay, Martha Ridling Ash, Jerrie Ridling Worley, and Gary Allan Ridling.
Sandra was part of the Daughters of the Confederacy. She was an avid gardener, spending many days in her yard tending to plants. She loved traveling and immersing herself in other cultures and customs. This was especially true of anything Celtic, where she could dive into her Irish ancestral roots. She was an accomplished chef and baker. She enjoyed quilting and knitting and was a talented artist. She loved animals, especially her Pekingese, Sam, and Chihuahua, Eilish.
But these were just facets of Sandra's rich life. At her core, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family was her world, and she was always there for them, offering support, care, and sometimes tough love. Her unwavering love was a constant in a world of uncertainties.
She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Martin (Leland) Sisk; grandchildren, John Schoolcraft, Lindsay Elizabeth (Jeremy) Hill, and Anthony Michael Sisk; great-grandchildren, Zachary Tyler and Ian Michael Schoolcraft and Madison Ciara and Aidan Riley Hill, as well as several nieces and nephews.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
