Sara "Jill" Smith

Sara “Jill” Smith, 70, passed away at her residence in Perry, Georgia, on Friday, August 18, 2023.

Jill was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado, on March 16, 1953. She was the daughter of the late Jack and Margaret Plank. A gifted teacher and a nurturing caretaker, Jill lent her talents to various day care centers throughout her years. Her impact on the lives of countless children and their families cannot be overstated; she helped shape young minds and hearts with her boundless dedication.

In her spare time, Jill enjoyed working in her yard and watching the Denver Broncos play football. A devoted grandmother, she poured immeasurable love into the lives of her grandchildren, leaving an permanent mark on their hearts. Her role as a mother was central to her identity, and her love and guidance were constants in the lives of her children.

In addition to her parents, Jill was preceded in death by her daughter, Billie K. Wilkinson, and sister, Janie Lewis.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her son, Dusty Smith; daughter, Sara Young; and brother, Ed Plank; as well as other extended family members and friends.

At the family’s request, all services held will be private.
