Sara Nell Stokes passed from this life into Heaven on Thursday, July 1, 2021, surrounded by her family. She was 84 years old at the time of her passing.
A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Sara immensely enjoyed being a homemaker. She spent all of her life in Georgia, born on December 1, 1936, in Monticello. The youngest of five children, she was the only daughter born to her parents, the late Coile Wilson, Sr. and Nellie Mitchum Wilson. She was a longtime member of Second Baptist Church. An avid recipe collector, one of Sara’s favorite pastimes was cooking meals for her family. She was an accomplished counted cross-stitcher and enjoyed her family pictures. More than anything, she loved her family and her cat, Baby.
In addition to her parents, Sara was preceded in death by her husband, Doyle Stokes; brothers, Chester Woodrow Wilson, Coile Preston Wilson, Jr., and Charles Bobby Wilson; sister-in-law, Rena Wilson; son-in-law, Mike Chickini; and granddaughter, Tiffany Friskey.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Vicki Sharp (Keith) of Oxford, Georgia, and Wendy Wilson of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; stepchildren, Patrick D. Stokes (Lisa), Pamela S. Chickini, and Laura S. Cole (Denny); grandchildren, Trent Sharp (Deanna) and Ciara Friskey; step grandchildren, Lacey Hinson (Joey), Taylor Stokes (Corinne), Hayley Lewallen (Kevin), Kelly Fierro (Pete), Emily Patten (Daniel), and Drew Cole; great grandchildren, Justin Sharp, Jordan Sharp, Lexi Bodi, Grady Hinson, Guinevere Stokes, Oliver Stokes, Beau Lewallen, Whit Lewallen, Mary Kathryn Fierro, Caroline Fierro, Carter Patten, and Cole Patten; and brother, John Seals Wilson.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 5, 2021, at Magnolia Park Cemetery. She will be laid to rest next to her late husband, Doyle. The Reverend Jeff Cleghorn will officiate.
Sara’s family would like to thank the dedicated caregivers at Arbor Manor in Perry, Georgia; Visiting Angels of Warner Robins, Georgia; the Serenity Hospice group, and the Encompass Hospice group for the love and attention they provided during Sara’s final months.
