Sarah A. "Penny" Lindsey

November 4, 1937 — December 31, 2022

Sarah Anne Fowler Lindsey (Penny), was born on November 4, 1937 to the late Sara Maxine Hunnicutt Fowler and Hammond Fowler. She passed away peacefully on the morning of Saturday, December 31, 2022, at the age of 85.

Sarah was a wife, mother of three and a homemaker. She worked for a number of years as a bus monitor for the Houston County Board of Education. Sarah enjoyed spending time with her family and friends while drinking coffee, playing games, shopping at Belk and keeping up with the social happenings of Houston County since 1968.

Sarah loved her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She loved the outdoors; going for walks and bike rides, especially on the beaches of the Gulf of Mexico, where she and her late husband, Jimmie, owned a vacation home for a number of years. Sarah’s love of the outdoors extended to her yard and plants.

She loved to travel and rarely missed an opportunity to join a church community or family outing. She and her husband took their first cruise when she was in her early seventies and that became another passion.

Most of all, Sarah loved her Lord and Savior. She was a vocal advocate of her Lord and was never shy about witnessing for Christ or sharing her faith. She enjoyed good Southern Gospel music; one of her favorite artists was Sandi Patty.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 67 years, Jimmie Lindsey, Jr., in October of 2022; and by her siblings, David Fowler, Rachel Fowler Long and Carl Wayne Fowler.

She is survived by her children, Jimmie H. Lindsey (Gwyn), Michael W. Lindsey (Kimberly) and Melissa L. Brown (Kenny); grandchildren, Elisha L. Maccarone (Nathaniel), Kyle Lindsey (Lindsey), Caleb N. Lindsey, Chad Lindsey (Jennifer), Ashley B. Lindsey, Curtis Austin Hall, Alaina D. Brown, Alyssa D. Brown and Ashton W. Brown; and great-granddaughter, Remi Alexandra Maccarone.
