Sarah Virginia "Sally" Reed

On Tuesday, October 26, 2021, Sally Reed held hands again with her beloved husband, Capt. Jerry Reed, USAF (Ret.), in Heaven. She was 82 years old.

Born in Thomas, West Virginia on December 8, 1938, Sally was the daughter of the late Henry Hi Harrison, Jr. and Sarah Lucille Kenniburg Harrison. She served her country with pride and honor in the United States Army for two years where she was a dental assistant. Sally continued her profession as a dental assistant in the civilian world until she met and married the love of her life, Gerald “Jerry” Reed. Then, she decided to make a lifelong career of supporting her husband as a military wife and being a wonderful stay at home mother to her son, Mark.

“The Original Cat Lady,” as she was honored to be named, Sally was known for her love of cats and taking in strays. They lived their best lives while in her loving care. Sally was also a generous donor to various charitable organizations and an active member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. Mystery fiction TV shows were her guilty pleasure.

Sally is survived by her loving son, Mark Reed (Jody); her grandchildren, Ivy and Chase Reed; her sisters, Clara Winberg of Perry and Cora Fasce of Detroit; and six nieces.

A memorial gathering will take place on Saturday, November 6, 2021, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A memorial service celebrating Sally’s life will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home, with Rev. Lucie Perkins officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband, Jerry, in Parkway Memorial Gardens, at a later date.
