SFC David Nelson, United States Army (Ret.), passed away at his residence in Warner Robins on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at the age of 64.

David was born in Phenix City, Alabama, on May 4, 1960. He proudly served in the United States Army for 21 years, earning the rank of Sergeant First Class (SFC) and receiving numerous awards and medals for his dedication and service to his country before retirement. After his military career, David worked at Robins Air Force Base as an aircraft painter for over two decades.

Known for his big heart and infectious sense of humor, David was a true people person who made friends wherever he went. He was a skilled cook, especially when it came to his famous BBQ, which he loved preparing for family and friends. Always impeccably dressed, he enjoyed shopping and taking pride in his appearance. David was also a lover of music of all genres and enjoyed watching westerns in his downtime.

His legacy of kindness, humor, and dedication to his family and country will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

In addition to his father, Frazier Parker, Jr.; David was preceded in death by his brother, Fred Nelson, and L.C. Franklin, Jr.

His memory will forever be treasured by his children, Terry Nelson (Barbara) of Warner Robins; Jermain Nelson (Kimberly) of Snellville, Georgia; grandchildren, Lauren Zapata and Lincoln Nelson; mother, Rena Franklin; siblings, Cathy Franklin (Howard) of Baltimore, Maryland, Angela Franklin and Caroline Franklin, both of Indianapolis, Indiana; as well as niece, Marsha Nelson; sister-in-law, Connie Nelson; Senobia Garrett; and life partner, Jutta Nelson.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 7, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Afterward, SFC David Nelson, United States Army (Ret.) will be laid to rest at 1:00 p.m. in Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville.
