SFC Harry Phillip Bruner, Sr., US Army (Ret.) was reunited with his beloved wife, Jana, in Heaven on Sunday, April 24, 2022. He was 76 years old.
The son of the late George Bruner and Thelma Johnson Bruner, Phillip was born on October 3, 1945, in Charleston, West Virginia. As a young man, Phillip joined the United States Army and courageously served during the Vietnam War. With several honorably awarded medals, awards, and ribbons, he retired with the rank of Sergeant First Class. After his time in the military, Phillip worked as a Painter and Sandblaster at Robins Air Force Base until his second retirement.
In his spare time, Phillip enjoyed volunteering and helping those in need. Of the Christian faith, he was a long-time member of First Christian Church of Perry. Phillip was a devoted West Virginia Mountaineers fan, loved watching NASCAR, and adored spending time with his family. He was a true hero and left an unforgettable imprint on the hearts of those who knew him best.
In addition to his parents, Phillip was preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Jana Meador Bruner; son, Harry Phillip Bruner, Jr.; and sister, Christine Pence.
His memory will forever be treasured by his daughter-in-law, Annette Bruner of Michigan; children, Kent Jackson Bruner (Chris) of Bonaire; and Joseph Scott Bruner (Lindsay), of Newport News, Virginia; eight grandchildren, Brittney Bunker, Dianna Jo Holley, Phillip Joseph Bruner, Jennifer Bruner, Kymber Bruner, Brooke Bruner, Allen Bruner, Zyre Bruner; two great-grandchildren; siblings, George H, Bruner III of West Virginia; Debbie Gibson of Virginia; and Richard Bruner of West Virginia; as well as several beloved extended family members and friends.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 29, 2022, at First Christian Church of Perry with Reverend Tyler Winn officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of SFC Harry Phillip Bruner, Sr., US Army (Ret.) to First Christian Church of Perry, 2100 US-41, Perry, Georgia 31069.
