Sharon Scarborough

March 2, 1953 — January 23, 2023

On January 23, 2023 Sharon Ann Buchan Scarborough was escorted into the presence of Jesus, her Lord and Savior. On her ascent she was surrounded by her loving family encouraging her, singing over her and praising our Lord.

Sharon was born to James T. Buchan, Sr. and Virginia Cheek Buchan in Montgomery, AL on March 2, 1953. Sharon was raised from an early age in the town of Hawkinsville, GA. As a teenager Sharon met the love of her life, James Michael Scarborough, otherwise known as “Hack”. The two were married in 1971 and lived a happy life together for 52 years.

Sharon had the kindest and most gentle spirit known. To know her was to love her! Her mission in life was to obey her Lord and Savior by ministering to her husband which she did to the very last. Much of her life was lived as a pastor’s wife and ministering to the young children of the church whom she loved.

It’s very seldom that there comes into our lives people, a person, who impacts you so strongly through a quiet, gentle, and loving character. This was “Our Sharon”, loved by all who knew her. A true inspiration by her great love of her family, Sharon was a shoulder to cry on, hands to help, our family’s greatest prayer warrior and above all a lover of God! Her loving devotion to her husband was a testament to us all. Her love of Christ flowed effortless and unconditionally onto us all.

She was preceded in death by her parents Mr. and Mrs. James T. Buchan, Sr. (Virginia) and her loving in-law parents, Mr. & Mrs. James M. Scarborough (Hilda). She is survived by her sister Cathy & Jimmy Mullis of Oglethorpe; brother Terrell & Kimberly of LaGrange; Sisters in law Cathy & Bobby Barker, Lorrie & Bobby Nix, all of Perry. Nieces & Nephews: Derrell & Melinda of Cobb; Phillip Buchan of Lawrenceville; Mallory & Kyle Crawford of Phoenix, AZ; Lee & Michele Danielly of Alpharetta; Kirt & Donna Danielly of Griffin; Stewart & Alain Barker of Hawkinsville, Amy & Tray Kemp; Staci & Brandon Miller all of Perry; James & Kristen of Zebulon, NC and many great nieces and nephews of whom she loved dearly.

Visitation will be Saturday, January 28, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A celebration service will immediately follow at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of Sharon to the Lung Cancer Research Foundation at www.lungcancerresearchfoundation.org or to Montezuma First Baptist Church at 2007 North Dooly Street Montezuma, GA 31063 or www.facebook.com/firstbaptistmontezuma.

To have known Sharon was to have loved her. She will be missed desperately by those who love her until we are reunited again! “Many women did noble things, but she surpassed them all.” Proverbs 31.
