Shelva Young

Shelva Jean Young, 86, entered into rest on Friday, March 3, 2023.

Shelva was born on November 17, 1936, in Crawford County, Georgia to the late Melton and Agnes Yaughn. Shelva retired from Robins Air Force Base after 20+ years as an administrative assistant in Civil Service. She was an optimist who always looked for the positive and could always be found smiling. She was caring and loving above all else, which made her beloved by everyone she knew. She loved family events and having her family around. She was an incredible cook and was known for her Brunswick Stew. She also enjoyed playing cards.

In addition to her parents, Shelva was preceded in death by her husband, Riley Young.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her children, Melody Hill (Randy) of Centerville, Georgia and Richard Presley (Christine) of Byron, Georgia; along with 5 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at Magnolia Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of Shelva Young to The Alzheimer’s Association at 886 Mulberry Street, Macon, GA 31201.
