Shirley Shilkaitis joined her beloved husband of 36 years, Victor, in heaven on the evening of Sunday, February 28, 2016. She was 84.
Shirley was born on October 25, 1931 in Fitzgerald, Georgia to the late James and Grace Harbuck. She graduated from Crawford County High School and earned a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Nursing from Macon Nursing School. Shirley dedicated many years to helping people as a Registered Nurse for Dr. Francis Meserve and Houston Medical Center before retiring. Shirley Hills Baptist was her church home. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother who deeply loved her family and her church, she served them all faithfully during her lifetime and will be missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her husband, Shirley was preceded in death by her brother, James Harbuck.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her loving children, Richard Outler (Minnie) of Forsyth and Patrice Horton of Kathleen; stepchildren, Connie Harper of Douglasville and Vicki Duffell (Gordon) of Perry; grandchildren, Catrina Harp, Christopher Justice, Patrick Arden, and Rob and Victor Harrison; six great-grandchildren; sister, Jeanette Stover of Macon; and a number of adoring nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 2nd in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with Rev. David Miller officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. A private committal service will be held at Magnolia Park Cemetery where Shirley will be laid to rest at a later date.
The family will accept flowers or donations may be given in memory of Shirley to Alzheimer's Association, 886 Mulberry St., Macon, GA 31201.
