Shirley James Powell

Mrs. Shirley James Powell, age 82, died Sunday, July 29, 2007 surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Powell was born December 22, 1924 in Stamford, Connecticut to the late Fredrick and Hazel James. She was the wife of Leslie Eugene Powell for 43 years, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Powell was a retired bus driver for the Thomas County Board of Education after 25 years of service. She was a member of Eastside Baptist Church in Thomasville, Georgia.

Mrs. Powell is survived by her eight children, Sue Peterson (David) of Gillette, WY; Linda Davis (Ronnie) of Lizella, GA; Bonnie Logeman (David) of Kings Mountain, NC; Gail Chit-Aroon of Jeffersonville, GA; Michael Powell (Kim) of Perry, GA; Cathy Martin (Richard) of Nashville, TN; Sharon Camps of Sanford, FL; Laura Gay (Steve) of Byron, GA; eighteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, July 31, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Big Creek Baptist Church in Coolidge, Georgia with Tim Robson officiating. The family will greet friends Monday, July 30, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home in Warner Robins, Georgia.
