Charlie Billings, 83, passed away on the morning of Thursday, February 18, 2016.
Charlie was born on November 24, 1932 in Concord, North Carolina to the late Earl and Viola Billings. As a young man, he joined the Armed Forces after graduating high school, proudly serving his country for 28 years. After retiring from the military, Mr. Billings continued to serve his country while working for the Department of Defense for the next 17 years.
This career afforded him and his family the opportunity to travel all over the world. Charlie eventually settled in Warner Robins where for the past 40 years, he raised his family and watched his children raise their children. His work ethic dictated that he did not want to sit around, so he energetically went to work for Buzzell Plumbing, Heating and A/C.
In addition to his parents, Charlie was also preceded in death by a brother, Richard Billings.
Charlie was married to the love of his life, Ruby Moore Billings, for 62 wonderful years. He also leaves behind their children, Beverly Crawford (James) of Warner Robins, Victoria Homan (Richard) of Anchorage, Alaska, Mike Billings (Paula) of Apex, North Carolina, Charolette Wall (Stan) of Kathleen, Georgia and Janet Skavlem (Brett) and Leisa Holmes (Cecil), both of Warner Robins; grandchildren, Jeremy, Zachary, Jessica, Joshua, Hillary, Michael, Jonathan, Jennifer, Jason, Vicki, Randy and Darryl; great-grandchildren, Isbella, Colton, Amelia, Leland, Cooper, Dillon, Logan, Jordan, Michelle, Melissa, Mary, Amanda, Aaron, Ryan, Joshua, Rachel, and Matthew; siblings, Robert Billings (Dixie) of Kernsville, North Carolina and Edna Earl Rheinhardt (Brown) of Concord, North Carolina; and many adoring nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, February 26, 2016 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to the service. Afterwards, Charlie will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery.
