Edgar Butler, 70, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 26, 2021.

Edgar, better known to his family as Mitchell, was born on October 10, 1950, in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Charles Edgar Butler and Lydia Lee Butler. He attended Englewood Highschool prior to enlisting in the United States Air Force in 1968. During his military career, Mitchell received numerous military awards to include the Meritorious Service Medal, AF Commendation Medal with 1 device, AF Outstanding Unit Award with Valor on 3 devices, AF Good Conduct Medal with 5 devices, National Defense Serve Medal, Vietnam Service Medal 1 device, AF Overseas Short Tour Ribbon, AF Longevity Service Award ribbon devices, NCO Professional Military Education Grad Ribbon 1 device, AF Training Ribbon, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with device and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. Following his twenty-year service to his country, Mitchell continued to work for the government in civil service as an aircraft scheduler at Robins Air Force Base. Mitchell was an avid racquet ball player winning several trophies and awards for his sport, he enjoyed riding motorcycles and loved his dogs, Frosty, Dewey, Daisy, Hobo. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Della Roberts Butler of thirty-two years; sister-in-law, Carolyn Lord and brother- in-law, Rex “Ricky” Roberts.

His memory will forever be treasured by his sister-in-law, Reba Roberts Aman and Runette Roberts Cadwell; brother-in-law, Colin Roberts (Porntip) and Seaborn Roberts (Caron); nephew, Joseph Clay Cadwell and nieces, Holly Cadwell Geronzin, Angela Farley, Stephanie Self Henry, Jeanette Roberts Cuffin, Jennifer Barlow Woodson and Marlena Roberts Lang.

Visitation with Mitchell’s family will be Monday, August 30, 2021 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home with the funeral service following in the chapel. Following the service, Mitchell will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery. For friends and family unable to attend, the service will be streamed live via the McCullough Funeral Home Facebook page at www.facebook.com/mcculloughfuneralhome/live/.

The family will accept flowers or donations may be given in memory of Edgar Michell Butler to Humane Society of Houston County, Inc at P.O. Box 9588, Warner Robins, GA 31095.
