Smsgt. John Reginald Kirkendall, Usaf (Ret.)

John Reginald Kirkendall, 84, passed away on Saturday, May 22, 2021.

The son of the late Arthur Thomas Kirkendall, Sr. and Bertha Thrift Kirkendall, John was born in Shelby, North Carolina. As a young adult, John enlisted in the United States Air Force where he honorably served for 26 years, retiring with the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. After retirement, he made Warner Robins his permanent home in 1971 where he continued to serve his country at Robins Air Force Base working as a Supply Specialist. John was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed all sports, especially softball and bowling, and loved to fish. All who encountered John adored him and he will be deeply missed.

His memory will forever be treasured by his beloved wife of 62 years, Bertha Ann Frady Kirkendall of Warner Robins; daughters, Robin Kirkendall Fobbus (Bryan) of Epworth, Georgia; Stacy Kirkendell Sanders (Billy Brooks) of Warner Robins; grandchildren, Justin Sanders, Johnny Sanders, Ashley Cummings (Justin) and Victoria McDougall; three great-grandchildren; brother, Arthur Thomas Kirkendall, Jr.; Steve Kirkendall (Shelia); Spencer Kirkendall (Brenda); as well as numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends, Joe and Viola Gootee.

Memorial gathering with John’s family will be Friday, May 28, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. The graveside memorial service celebrating his life will immediately follow at 11:30 a.m. at the Magnolia Park Mausoleum with full Military Honors. For friends and family unable to attend, the service will be streamed live via the McCullough Funeral Home Facebook page at www.facebook.com/mcculloughfuneralhome/live/.
