Born on January 31, 1960, in Charleston, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Clyde Carter and Carolyn Jones Winn. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, George and Sadie Winn and Thomas and Ferne Jones, as well as his father-in-law, George Martin Hall, all of whom he loved very much. He was a very good caregiver to his parents and his father-in-law prior to their deaths.
Steve was a man of strong faith, having accepted Christ as his savior as a young adult. His relationship with God was of upmost importance to him and a great impact to his family and friends.
Steve proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and retired after 28 years of dedicated service with the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. Throughout his career, he worked in various roles, including operational readiness, military personnel, logistics, and mobility, and had a deep love for his work. One of his fondest assignments was the year he was stationed in Sicily.
Outside of his military service, Steve enjoyed many things. He enjoyed fly fishing trips with his father, and camping trips with the scouts. He became Assistant Scout Leader for his son, Seth’s, cub scout troop and enjoyed many scouting experiences with them. He was a role model for scouts, as Steve achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, as did two of his nephews and his son Seth. As a true “foodie,” Steve was always on the lookout for new restaurants and culinary experiences. He also enjoyed cars and music. He loved to travel and plan trips for his family. Above all, he loved spending time with his family, particularly during their vacations, that created wonderful memories.
His memory and the joy and laughter he brought to the family, will forever be treasured by his loving family, wife, Sheryl Hall Winn; children, Spencer Maxim Winn, Sydney Malvina Winn, and Seth Carter Winn, all of Warner Robins; Additionally his memory will be treasured by his siblings, Patsy Winn Myers (John) of Cleveland, Tennessee; and Elizabeth Winn Thompson (Barry) of Lexington, South Carolina, his sister-in-laws, Sheila Meadows of Byron, and Sherry Malone of Winder, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
